This week, September 19-21, 2008, Millennials from all over the nation are gathering in D.C. for Mobilize.org's Democracy 2.0 Grant Summit, sponsored by the Sunlight Foundation, CSIS and Common Cause. The Summit, which include the use of innovative technologies, and innovative "Deep Dive" sessions, comes with a twist: several groups of Millennials will leave the summit with grants to start making change on the issue of Money in Politics in their local communities.
And even more interesting, the individuals and teams can receive up to $5K in funding from a group their Millennial peers at the millennial-led non-profit Mobilize.org. A product of grassroots organizing and social entrepreneurship itself, Mobilize.org hopes that this summit will be the first in a series of summits to address issues ranging from civic participation to economic inequity.
Grant Summit winners will each receive a grant, and more importantly, will receive the support of Mobilize.org and our extensive partner network to champion their proposal and create systemic and long lasting change in the way elections are run.
MEDIA ARE INVITED. The Summit is open to the media. Your RSVP in advance is appreciated. To RSVP, please e-mail Christina Gagnier, Mobilize.org Chief Information Officer, at christina at mobilize dot org.
