Fair Game: Pork Spending
Publication: PRI: Public Radio International

In a week that has seen posturing from the Bush Administration over how fiscally conservative it is, (and by fiscally conservative, we mean other than the whole "500 billion dollars for a war of choice" thing), Congress has had difficulty passing the required annual spending bills. The main problem: Bush's criticism of the excessive pork in the bills. An odd complaint, especially since earmarks are a two party problem, have dropped 50 percent from the last round of bills, and a new ethics law requires congresspeople's names to be attached to all earmarks requests. So what's really going on over there? To shed some light on this issue, we'll hear from Fair Game's Ritch Duncan.
