There were over 1,800 earmarks in the 109th Labor HHS Bill, and we wanted to know where they came from. A variety of people helped figure it out, by researching and posting in the comment section on this blog post.
1) Who secured the earmark?
What district is it in? Call the office of the congressperson you think might have secured the earmark and ask them if they are indeed responsible for it. Record whatever answer they give.
2) Did your Member of Congress get an earmark?
Call your member of Congress and ask whether they are responsible for any of the earmarks in the upcoming Labor HHS bill.

As a local issue, I noted something.
Costa Mesa CA, Vanguard University got two. $450k for facilities and equipment, and $250k for teacher training.
Direct subsidy for a religious organization, At minimum, inappropriate, at max. unconstitutional.

No idea who put this in. But there is plenty of heat here. Local issue with me. There just might be more here than meets the eye. Why would a congressman shovel so much to so few?
